New Milestone with China Mission Society

“Brothers, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom.  We will turn this responsibility over to them…”  (Acts 6:3)

It is exciting to see the churches in the Greater China area—over 4,000 disciples in 20 churches, have decided to remain in a tight and unified fellowship by forming the China Mission Society, which would be led by a China Mission Council.

In January of this year, sixteen Evangelists representing China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan came together to ratify the bylaws of the Council, as well as to select its Chairman, whose term will be three years.  We believed that the Holy Spirit led us to select Steve Chin of Taipei to be the Council’s first Chairman, and in the weeks followed, he selected eight other Evangelists to form the rest of the Council—Alex Chiang, Andy Chow, Bruce Li, Godwin Chan, Jeff Wong, Lawrence Lau, Philip Lam, and Turner Sinn.

The unity has already produced fruit as the full-time brothers, (all 64 of us), from the churches that formed the new China Mission Society held its first Church Builders Workshop last month on a mountain somewhere in China.  The Lord allowed us to build new relationships, deepen our convictions, synergized our vision, and drafted many strategies in the precious four days together.

The Holy Spirit always selects the necessary people to meet the needs of the Church at a given time.  We are thankful to God in providing a capable team of mature leaders in our Mission Council at such a critical time in our part of the movement.  While we are humbled that we could stand on the shoulders of giants like Scott Green, who laid an excellent foundation, we also look forward to even more great news from the Chinese-speaking churches to inspire the brotherhood around the world.
