Exciting Upcoming Events

After the All Taiwan Sunday Service and the fun Outdoor Banquet, you would think that we have had enough fun to last a year.  Well, think again!  There are plenty more exciting events coming up on our calendar:  (Note: the dates are subject to change WITH notice.)

December 3, 2005

There will be a Married Fund-raising Banquet on Saturday, December 3rd, (well, plus or minus a day to secure a venue.)  The purpose of this banquet is for the campus brothers and sisters to raise money for the Special Contribution.  There will be a limited number of door tickets for sale for the married couples and their married friends.  Every guests would be required to dress up to participate an evening resembles what we would think of in a James Bond’s movie—a high society social.  There will be a gala dinner, followed by casino games, ballroom dancing, fancy silent auction, etc.  Many campus disciples will also dress up and serve champagne among the guests.  Of course, everything will cost money, and that is why it is called “fund-raising.”  So, buy your tickets early and bring lots of cash!

December 24, 2005

This year’s Christmas Eve falls on the weekend again!  Therefore, it will be an opportunity to bring the spirit of Christmas to the people in Taipei.  As before, we would build a stage outdoor, and then each Sector would take turn hosting about one hour of program.  We will sing Christmas Carols and bless the passersby with our Christmas spirit.  As usual, our logo will be everywhere, so people would know which church is sponsoring such an awesome event.  (Of course, there will be free glass candle holders with our church logo to be handed out when they join the Friends of Taipei Church program.)

January 7, 14, 21, 2006

Long awaited Flea Markets are once again ready for operation in preparation for the Special Contribution!  With three Saturdays in a row, each Sector would take turn organizing its own Flea Market at the same location.  Many disciples, as well as our non-Christian friends, still have lots of fond memories of the past Flea Markets.  Please start to make a list of valuable second-hand items you can find, as well as contacting companies that wish to donate their goods.  Let’s make next year’s Flea Market a record year for the Special Mission Contribution.

10 Year Disciple Retreat

February 11-12 (Brothers); February 11-12 (Single Sisters); March 18-19 (Married Sisters)

Just when you thought getting a medal to hang in your leather folder[1] is all there is to commemorate the exciting 10 years of being a disciple…  Now, there is an opportunity where the 10 Year Disciples could gather for an awesome retreat to catch up on fellowship; especially the old relationships are spread out in various sectors, as well as talk about spiritual topics relating to the challenges particular to a 10 year mature disciple.  There will be fun, fellowship, and lots of food, (amen, brothers?) available for the weekend in a hot spring location.  For you privileged few, start to block out the date for this awesome event.

February 12, (or 19), 2006

The last Special Mission Contribution was collected in December of 2002.  The Lord has blessed us with enough cash reserve to fund the China Mission along with Hong Kong and US Northwest Churches for the last few years.  Now that the reserve is starting to run low, our sacrifice will once again be special, as we raise money for China Mission, as well as our new projects of building elementary schools in China villages.  The goal would be 10 times our weekly tithe.  In the past years, we have always gone way beyond our goals.  Let’s make this collection another reflection of our renewed sense of mission and sacrifice.  It is in Him and for Him only!

March 5, 2006

On this Special Sunday, we would all meet together.  There will be a special exhibit for all the Specialized Ministry that the church is currently operating, as well as developing.  We need more disciples willing to dedicate their talents to the service of the Lord in countless ways and ministries.  So, be prepared to check out different booths and sign up to join something that you know you could help.  Please be also praying for more Specialized Ministries to be developed between now and then.

March 2006

March would be designated as the “Month of FTCC.”  As we expand our database of the people we try to reach out to, we can use this month to dedicate adding more friends, relatives, and colleagues to the database.  We will be able to send out monthly newsletters to keep them informed of, and inspired by, what we are doing.  After all, don’t you just wish all the world would know the awesome things God is doing for us and through us?  More people will get to know us, become familiar with us, recognize us, appreciate us, and eventually even sponsor us!  We will allow the technology do some, but definitely not all, of the gospel spreading in Taiwan.

May 7, 2006

Yes, it is the time for another All Taiwan Sunday Service!  This time, we will all meet in Hsinchu to celebrate the Lord’s Day together.  Thanks to the disciples in the Hsinchu church for their serving heart.  I am sure we will have another memorable time as we meet down in the “City of Wind.”  Will there be any new stunt by the Rescue Team?  Will there be another Outdoor Banquet?  Whatever there will be, I am confident that the Word will be preached, hearts will be inspired, and vision will be advanced.  Let’s pray and “wait in expectations.”

Mark your calendar and strap your seat belt.  We are in for an exciting ride!  However, let us not forget, all the things that we do, is to help us draw closer to God and help more people to know Christ.
